Team Profile

INVESTIGATOR (in training).

OCCUPATION: Branch Administrator.

I first became interested in ‘Ghosts’ around the age of 12 after I purchased my first book called ‘Haunted House’s by Shire Publications at a pricey sum of 60p (showing my age now) after being dragged round the North of England Open Air Museum by my parents, I got bored and asked if I could have some pocket money to buy something from the Souvenir shop. To think back then, that buying this book would give me a hobby in later in life, I recently unearthed this book from the loft and looking through it, found map references pencilled in as to their locations throughout the UK, as if one day I might get to visit them. Well I haven’t as yet.

My interest’s grew about the paranormal as I got older and I have had various messages from the other side over the years and more recently by Derek Ackorah himself, I went to see him about three years ago at a local Theatre, I wasn’t expecting a message or anything as the Theatre was packed to the rafters, but at the very end, my father in law came through for me and before I knew it, a camera was in my face and a microphone placed in my hand, OMG! I was gobsmacked; Derek called out to the audience, my father in law’s surname, and asked the audience if this person related to anyone, out of a packed theatre of 1000 people, only I put up my hand. Anyway, moving on.

My next experience just blew me away, I was lucky enough to attend a recent Most Haunted Live show at Denbigh Asylum, North Wales in October 2008, this was my first ever audience participation for any TV show, and because it was filmed over Halloween, the instructions were if you wanted to, bring along a carved pumpkin of your design and be in with a chance of wining the opportunity of joining Yvette and the team on part of the investigation, well, I though I’m up for that, my son of 20 years, who I must hasten to add, has been told has the potential to be a medium, helped me to produce a fantastic pumpkin, and having looked at some pumpkins prior to filming on the day, thought, erm maybe I do stand a chance here, low and behold I did win and I did get to join Yvette and the team on Day 1 of the investigation, you can view it on YouTube, (if you must!),
I also had the pleasure of attending Most Haunted Live at Liverpool in 2009, I didn’t get chosen to go on the vigils this time (lightening doesn’t strike twice does it?) but the excitement of being in the audience was electric.

After MH I attended a ‘Ghost Hunt’ at a pub in Stoke on Trent, it was here that I had my first encounter with ‘spirit’, not the alcoholic type, I took along some marbles, I’ve seen this done on MH and thought lets see if this actually does work, we split into teams of three and my team went of to the Kitchen area as there has been a lot of activity reported there, the kitchen is a typical pub kitchen all steel, there is a room next to the kitchen and a store room further on, if you stand in the storeroom you can throw your marble all the way through the two rooms and down into the kitchen, I threw my marbles a couple of times and asked for it to be thrown back, nothing happened, I was a little disheartened to say the least, on my third attempt my marble came pinging back to me, as I wasn’t expecting this, I bolted through the two rooms and back to the safety of the pub, the other two people I was with were a married couple and the husband bolted out the doors first, with me hot on his tails leaving his poor wife on her own, when we got our breath back then we re-joined her, we thanked the spirits for their help, after we had calmed down from our over excitement of the whole episode.

This experience just fuelled my desire to find a group locally who could share my quest to find evidence of live after death, Most Haunted I love to bits, but is an entertainment show after all, I wanted to be part of a group who don’t have to worry about viewing statistics to survive. I wanted to be with people who share the same passion as me, to try and prove that when we die our spirit does live on. So my search began, that’s when I stumbled across Spectre Analysis, they are local to me, and seem to match what I am looking for in a group, I met them in November 2008 and haven’t looked backed since, upon my ‘interview’ I was asked what equipment I had, blimey erm, make something up here quick I thought, I just said my digital still camera! Oh and my old pennies, oh and my marbles.

My first investigation with the team was The Mitchell Memorial Theatre see my blog, I am very passionate about the Mitch, and thought what a good place to start. It didn’t cost us the earth to hire the venue, something of which I detest is the high prices that some groups charge to attend these events (yes I too am affected by the credit crunch, and I am constantly searching for more places to investigate for free), ghost hunting shouldn’t be a money making scam, there are lots of places to investigate for free, you just need to get out there and look around you.

I also believe in Angels, I have had my own angel experience, we are all born with a guardian angel to guide us through our sometimes difficult path in life, and if you want to know who your guardian angel is, just ask, in some form or another you WILL get a reply, I did!

Well that’s me all summed up, Happy Ghost Hunting

Old Hall, Madeley

Kath and I visited The Old Hall in Madeley to see if we can do an investigation there. We met up with Simon the owner and had a guided tour of this wonderfull building, We took loads of photographs and I managed to get an orb in one of the rooms, see photo, looks like MH will be filming there for their forthcoming summer series and David Wells picked up on a young teenage girl in the garden, there has been electical activity in one of the bedrooms, the TV likes to come on by itself. It would be interesting if this happens while we are doing our investigation.

One of the downstairs rooms is going through reburbishment at present and it was absolutley freezing, really icey cold,

The Mitchell Memorial Theatre

At last, the day I had been looking forward to for what seemed like an eternity was here. I could hardly contain myself with excitement, weeks and weeks of planning, researching, liasing with staff members and library staff had finally come together. I arrived 10 minutes early than the other members of the team, I sat in my car, eagerly awaiting their arrival, where were they, why were they late? They weren’t late, it is me chomping at the bit, ready for the roller coaster ride of my life I thought was head of me, and after all, it was my suggestion to the team to do an investigation at this lovely post war theatre. I knew that this theatre was a little different (so I thought) having sensed ‘things’ in particular areas. Dressing room 4 had always seemed so unwelcoming on previous visits, but not on this night, it warm and welcoming, I could easily have pulled out my sleeping bag and slept like a baby in that room! I wondered why can a room feel horrid one time and nice the next? I set up my ‘old pennies’ as a trigger object, had a little go with the dowsing rods and vacated the room to start the investigation.

We all assembled on the stage, it was a mutual decision to check that all seats in the auditorium were upright, this theatre does not have an circle or upper circle, so a quick walk up the aisles with a our torches (I felt like an usherette in a cinema) as the seating area is the same layout as a cinema with seating to the left, centre and right, confirmed that all seats were in their correct position.

The evening began with protection given by Jacquie, and then progressing onto asking if any spirits were present, I eagerly awaited any responses, none arrived, oh no I thought to myself, where were they, these spirits of folk who lived here so many years ago, please come out to play, say hello, touch one of us, oh go on, pleease,…. Nothing but deathly silence. I thought it maybe a little early and that things will kick off later,

At this stage we split into teams. And it was at this moment the smoker’s decided to have a quick break. Kath and I were left on the stage alone, to my astonishment I noticed some tobacco and cigarette ends on the stage floor close to where Kath was setting up her camera. Was this the sign from ‘the other side’? Had they finally made contact to warn the ‘smokers’ that it is harmful? Kath and I couldn’t believe it? But no, what had actually happened was that Shula had grabbing her coat and one of her pockets had her dead cigarette ends in which must have flung out of her pocket as she swung her jacket over her shoulder to go outside, it was so funny, Kath and I couldn’t help but fall about with laughter.

While the others were outside enjoying a quick puff, I went to check on the chairs in the auditorium, as I approached the back of the seating area, I noticed that one seat was down, I thought this a little strange as it wasn’t down before we started, and everyone was accounted for seated around the table on the stage. Andy (one of the staff members) said, “That’s Mary Blakemans seat”. Even I, who has some knowledge of The Mitch, didn’t know about Mary. Who was she? What was her association with the Mitch? Andy showed me the Hospitality room where there were photographs of Mary. She seamed such a lovely lady, and was apparently very partial to the odd custard cream, well if only I’d known; I would have brought her some, as some kind of offering. Maybe Mary had come to see us all perform? She must have thought, ‘what are these daft folk up to’. After various pictures had been taken of Mary’s seat, the team split into three groups.

I was with Steve, Andy and Karen, (the later two are staff members), and we started our 20 minute vigil in the workshop at the back of the theatre, I hated this room, it is the only room that has got a hot drinks machine and on many occasions in the past have felt as though I was being watched, but not tonight. Again, this room felt warm and welcoming which was unusual? Just as we were about to give up the ghost, (sorry, pardon the pun), we saw a shadow walk across the gantry, with a lot of tapping being heard from the gantry’s metal handrail, we noted the time of this phenomenon at 11.31pm.

Next stop for us is Trish’s office, again, phenomenon has been logged in the past about a little boy called Jack, who likes to move her pens etc, well Jack must too have been at the spirit convention too because he didn’t interact with us at all. I did set up a trigger object with three marbles, but I left them for Trish to find on Monday morning.

Next and final stop for us was the control room. Again a person has been seen by one of the company’s who perform at the theatre. He stated that a man was seen watching his show from the control room and insisted ‘this man’ had not paid for his ticket! A search was carried out by staff members which resulted in nobody being found, we called out but again, although the control room is a ‘blacked out room’ it still felt completely warm and welcoming.

Conclusions

I was really disappointed that no interaction with spirits from a past era was reached, after all the hard work I had endured finding out about former residents of The white House, non of them could be bothered to come and make themselves known to us, I gave up one of the most romantic evenings of the calendar year to spend an evening with, well living people who share the one same passion as me – to continue to search that life does continue after death……….
